Meet Cel Gonzalez, LMFT
Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist
Hello, and welcome. My name is Cel, and I am a therapist who believes in bringing my full self into the healing space.
As a non-binary, bisexual, Latinx parent, my own diverse, intersecting identities naturally blend into my style of therapy. I show up to our sessions with the heart of someone who is deeply relational and inherently humanistic.
Guided by multicultural theory, my practice is a space where I can be honest, raw, and creatively engaged with clients from all walks of life. If you are seeking a therapist who will willingly swim into the depths of your interpersonal world—while actively validating the systemic challenges and barriers you face every day—you are in the right place.
Being a clinician and holding this space in our society is deeply important to me. I know firsthand that a strong therapeutic relationship creates the safety needed for profound internal shifts. Together, we can foster those shifts to help you lead a life where you experience a much deeper sense of self, health, and fulfillment.
An Evidence-Based, Empathetic Approach to Therapy
In my clinical work, I lean heavily on a foundation of evidence-based and deeply empathetic frameworks. Guided by a Multicultural Counseling theory, I regularly integrate the following modalities into our sessions:
Feminist Theory
Trauma-Informed CBT
Emotion-Focused Therapy
Attachment Theory
Relational Work
Beyond the clinical modalities, I find myself to be naturally gentle and honestly human with my clients. I always have your best interests at heart, and I am never afraid to hear your hardest truths and hold them safely with you.
Managing a mental health diagnosis, learning about the complex functioning of your mind, and unpacking the protective walls you have developed to survive is at the very core of what we do in therapy.
Please know that I am completely unafraid of the heavy stuff. Whether you are navigating persistent ruminations, suicidal ideation, or deep-seated anxieties, I am here for it, and I am so thankful you are taking the first big step toward granting yourself relief.
My Story & Background
My journey to becoming a therapist has been beautifully colored by a wide variety of community-based backgrounds.
When I was younger, I actually entered university with the intent of studying animals. However, as I began working alongside various non-profit organizations and grassroots movements in college, I discovered a profound passion for supporting people in creative, meaningful ways.
Studying a unique combination of Psychology, Art, and Biology allowed me to view the world through the lens of ecosystems. It helped me consider the vast, interconnected ecosystems of our inner emotional worlds, our distinct cultures, and our physical bodies, and how they continuously interact with the people and communities around us.
Being a clinician and holding this space in our society is deeply important to me. I know firsthand that a strong therapeutic relationship creates the safety needed for profound internal shifts. Together, we can foster those shifts to help you lead a life where you experience a much deeper sense of self, health, and fulfillment.
Later, while working as a reproductive health specialist at Planned Parenthood, I witnessed the immense power of human connection, advocacy, and having a voice. That experience ultimately solidified my calling to become a therapist.
A Holistic Look Forward
There is a beautiful humanity in mental health that is vital for us to explore. For me, asking about what brings you joy in life sits right next to holding space for what is profoundly challenging.
I will always choose to view you holistically. When we work together, you can expect me to honor and explore:
Your environment: The systemic world and culture around you.
Your essence: The vibrant, unique personality you hold.
Your resilience: The challenges you have overcome to get to where you are today.
Your future: The bold, authentic goals you have for your life.
My ultimate goal is for you to get exactly what you need out of our time together, and for you to learn to value yourself in entirely new depths. I am ready for all the twists and turns we might experience on your healing journey.
Let’s Connect
If my approach resonates with you and you are ready to begin, I would love to hear from you.
